Well.... shit

So much for my plan to get a bit ahead on writing. I only got 1063 words written last night. I think tonight I'm going to see if Heero's battery is recharged and I'll bring my iPod upstairs and we'll make a writing party of it so that there are no distractions... if I don't get caught up at work today. 1667 (today) + 314 (2 days ago) + 604 (yesterday) = 2585 minimum today. This will mean making some major progress at work... so that maybe I can do movies tonight after work. I've been waiting to watch The Terminator since we got it back out of the box.

Dirj, I sent you copies of all the icons in replies on LJ. They're also on ApollyMix. If I get caught up (or stuck) writing today, I'll try to work on more. I found a few more good Aliens ones... including the Dwayne/Ellen scene. *squee* I'm making those 2585 words my top priority though. Got a lot to make up and get done before I'm gone for 3 days at the end of the month. (I thought it was only going to be 2, but apparently it will be 3 full days and part of 2 others. Before then, I'll need to make sure I take Heero with me and have the entire story in a Word file.)

Most days it never really hits me that I'm encroaching on thirty; I try to live like I'm a lot younger (playing around, not worrying over things as much as I can, laughing and having a good time); but sometimes it does hit. Yesterday morning it hit when I was on the phone with Mum discussing our trip at the end of the month. My cousin is pregnant with her and her husband's first kid; like my sister who's already two kids in, my cousin is also 22. Mum mentioned to me once that she worried she ruined me for marriage with her and my father's divorce then her marriage with my first step-father (my sister's father) and now Charlie (I adore my new step-father). That was just a random bit, but occasionally I still get a "when are you getting married" or "when are you giving me great-grandchildren" from my father's mother (Obaabaa); she doesn't take kindly to be told she has two other grandchildren who are already married that she can bug for great-grandchildren.

Okay, that was just a rant/ramble, when I should be catching up on writing.

♥ Writing is more important than iconing, and even though I can't wait to see what you make of the "Don't be gone long Ellen" scene, your writing comes first, of course. I was just thinking about one of your another stories, I had printed out the first chapter of Paradoxical some time ago and it was lying on my scanner for some reason. When I picked it up, I was reminded of how much I liked that one ^__^. Sometimes you just can't stop writing, it's our inner muse that compels us!

I get you on the thirty-stuff; I'm far past that. I'm going to be 34 very soon and even though my mother doesn't bug me for grandchildren (well, PCOS pretty much ruined my chances for that), I'm having a little difficulties dealing with it too, but that's too much to state in a simple comment.

Wow, never realised anyone besides me and Kattan were reading Paradoxical. I'll have to see if I can't find my notebook for it, get it completely typed up, and start scribbling on it here and there. Sometimes the inner muse hides away for months at a time, till you track it down, tie it in place... then it won't shut up. I like that it's currently in a 'won't shut up' stage right now. (It needs to start talking for one of the originals, like HuntPath, soon. I wanted to have more than 100 pages done before Dragon*Con...)

Most days I don't feel 27. In fact, most days I barely feel 21. I wonder where the time has gone - and then I get a MySpace message telling me about my 10 year high school reunion or something. *le sigh*

Yeah, I really like the premise of the "In five days' time, she will be dead" line you used, and I got quite curious. ^^ But the muse is a fickle thing indeed, and sometimes it comes and sometimes it goes.

Heh, I know what you mean. More and more often when I refer to something in conversations that happened a while ago, I think "Oh snap, that's been more than X years ago!" I mean, it's weird that's it almost TWO decades since I was in middle school, and a good decade since I graduated from university, yes. Time sure flies...

Kattan said that was one of my best opening lines ever. I rather enjoyed it. In fact, I rather enjoy almost all my characters in there: Myfanwy is just great, pink-haired little alien that she is; Jonas, I adore, he's such a great but completely biased narrator; Kerrigan hasn't appeared, but I like her no nonsense attitude; and then the students are one bit of fun after the next. Yeah, I really need to get that typed up.

It scares me to think of stuff that was popular when I was young is now being called "retro" and "vintage". Yeesh... I'm a vintage author...

I agree, because it immediately grabs your attention, and the curiosity of what's going to happen. Why does she have to die? Is she going to die? Who is behind it? ^^ I want to go back to my original fiction either. I have a bunch of Divine Sons lined up, some over-the-top characters in a fantasy world who will need mankind to survive.

XDDD Or that you're talking to someone who is all about '80's retro cartoons and who's too young to have seen them when they were aired, and you being old enough to have stayed up to see them all. Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Thundercats, She-Ra, He-Man.... XD

...Transformers, MASK, G.I. Joe, Thundarr the Barbarian, Lady Lovely Locks, My Little Pony, Jem, Strawberry Shortcake, G Force, Voltron, Rainbow Brite... to name a few other "retro" cartoons I remember watching when I was young.

If that story turns out to be in English (or gets translated into it), let me know! It sounds interesting!!

Most of the ones you name were aired as well, and I remember Jem all too much! I worked my young little ass off to buy myself a Kimber doll (I liked her for her red hair, I guess? I dunno, but Jem/Jerrica herself didn't do much to me) which was 61 Dutch guilders at that time (roughly 30 Euro by now, 25 USD). I had a paper job to get me the money, because my parents didn't want to buy it unless for my birthday (which was then a mile away XD). MASK was awesome. I was so jealous at that kid with the scooter! I wanted such a scooter for myself.

^^ If it ever gets published/translated, you'll get a signed copy first!

Kimber was always my favourite as well! I loved that hair; I still wish I could do my hair that colour, but I would never be able to here at work. I remember getting the doll, but I have no idea where it is now. The only reason I know I had it is because I remember seeing her keyboard around somewhere when I was getting stuff together for a Dollfie.

Hurray for signed copy! ^_~ You have such talent and skill that I know we're talking about WHEN it gets published, not IF. ^__^ ♥

*laughs at your icon*

I loved the series, for all the nice clothes and the music, and just how it was. I recently bought the Jem movie (I think it's just the first three or four episodes smished together, but seeing as there are no other DVD's of Jem...) and I was taken back down memory lane, but oh my god, the cheesiness of it all, how dense Rio was, and how cruddy the songs XDD But they were awesome cruddy songs! My father threw all my dolls and accessories out when he was drunk, the asshole.

^___^ Thank you, darling. ♥

I'll see if I can't find those episodes I downloaded and burn them as well. There was always one song I really adored: "Who Is He Kissing?" Very fun. If you want, I can even burn you the copies of the songs I found; some of them are a bit low-quality to warn you.

Aww... Now that just sucks! I'm sorry, hon!

I'd love to see some Jem back, just as much as I'm looking for episodes of Jacye and the Wheeled Warriors, but that's just nigh impossible. I really liked "Only the beginning" very much, just because it was such a fun and happy song. ^^

Yeah, and he had the gall to claim my mother did it (they were in the middle of divorcing at that time and my mother moved out of the house), but I know he was pissed-assed drunk at the time. Needless to say, I don't have a really happy bond with my father.

Parents just amaze me sometimes and not usually in good ways. I guess that's why I'll never have kids. I just don't have the personality to do kids... or a husband - and I refuse to put children through a divorce. My own parents divorced when I wasn't even 2 yet, I got a step-father when I was 5, they got divorced when I was 15, and then I got another step-father when I was 21. I don't talk to my previous step-father, my relationship with my father is rather strained and stressful and I pretty much raised him, and sometimes I think my mum and I are more like best mates than parent and child.

But ugh... on a happier note, there is a little prize coming with the rest of your DVDs, something I noted you mentioned being missing from your collection. I'm mailing everything tomorrow through Express Mail, so it should be there in 3-5, since it took me so long to get it to you.

I wish my parents just divorced when we were still younger. Sure, it wouldn't have been easy on us kids and my mother either way, but I think we would have ended up less fucked and awkward as we are now. However, since the divorce, I'm very close with my mother, and concerning my father... well, if he drives off a cliff I would feel more guilty about not crying about it than anything else, if you catch my drift. I would, on the other hand, love to have a child, but I can't do the husband part. I'm just not relationship material, I'm afraid, though I do like the occasional hug and a shoulder, just the daily grind of a relationship would get on my nerves.

YAY package! ♥ A little prize? *racks brain* Ooh, I'm so curious! I'm going to hunt down the mailman again :)

Trying to get this in before the net gets turned off for service in 15 minutes.

... I ripped my copy of Terminator 2: Judgement Day (the extended edition that has Reese in it, etc) and burned it for you. It's labelled a little strangely because of my program though. And my fandork arse might burn you some AMVs and FMVs as well.

OooOOO, thank you thank you thank you! Yay Reese! I can't wait! I wish we had something special only in the Netherlands that I could send you. I feel so spoiled with all these goodies, and yum, doujinshi coming my way. That's so going to be making my month. :) ♥
